Change
Posted by Henri Nolen in Uncategorized on April 4, 2012
Change is one of the most underestimated and overestimated topics. There is nothing more constant as change itself. We humans do our daily things and most of us are presuming everything stays the same. On a personal level my focus at this point in my life is clarity. I have been on this search for many years. Refining and fine-tuning.
The reason this site It is under creative construction is simple… Because I am. Exploring the options. And I am loving the process.
I don’t know how and I don’t know when but something good is going to happen
It will !

Tonight I was going to my favorite Kebab Store here in Berlin. Yeah ! Where they have great rich and healthy Kebabs. I am this “crazy” health-freak who believes the body should be nourished by a variety of foods. Including this specific Kebab. I decided mine was without meat today. Vegetarian. Which is a new way of Life for me. It was delicious with really soft bread and a yummy fresh Hot-sause/Herb-sause mix.
Naturally since it’s my favorite Kebab Store, I ate there many times before and saw a variety of employees (characters). I am always curious and observe People’s characters and how they interact with each other. I absolutely love the atmosphere in this joint. Very Positive. With a capital V and a capital P. Very simple. It doesn’t look like much, but you can cense it when you come in. There are no “hidden” things. Every thing is open and friendly. You can cense the Love to serve. Not because they have to, or they have to show they are friendly…. more because it’s in their nature to reflect that nature. “Being-ness” that’s what came to mind. Also the movie “Peaceful Warrior” About serving others.
Before tonight, I often wondered who the Store Owner was, because everything seemed truly in harmony. I loved to know more about him…or her. Today, funny enough, one of the employers (that is what I thought…) who happened to be also one of the guys that I personally liked the most, asked me to join him for a cup of tea. We got talking first about little stuff, small talk (which I am “almost” in-capable of…Haha
) Then deeper denser material, and also what I did, that I am a father of two and he was as well… So there we were sitting, two fathers… Chatting about God and the World.
After that, I asked him a bunch of questions and he told me in a very humble way, that he was the store owner ! Yes, I know… can you imagine, the guy that I thought was just another employee….!? I told him this, that not even I recognized him to be the owner of this Company. He appeared to be just one of the other guys, working just as hard, doing the same jobs as all his other employees were doing… -Without- any sort of hierarchy and it worked so well !!! And the company is very successful. They are all such cool guys, so relaxed, so at ease. I asked him : “How do you do that ?!” And he told me. -It is so simple- I nearly fell of my Chair. I had often thought of this before myself, but never applied it the way he did. Mind-expanding! So I will use this as a model in my future work, which I will keep as a surprise Secret for now
In a casual way, we became instant friends on a mutually-understanding-level. Wow! I thought…. Thank you!
Naturally, coming from Holland, where many people are speaking their minds seemingly much more easily. And where most of the time see their boss as just another employee too, (even though with respect) The way an employee talks to his boss and visa versa “seemed” much more relaxed in Holland. A Boss in Holland is much more seen as a good friend on the work-floor. (hopefully) Most of the time they don’t have a Hierarchy at all. Obviously Living here Berlin now, there are cultural differences and habits which are changes for me too.
I both saw and heard that employees are often afraid of their bosses. Because of the Hierarchy. The employees seldom talk about anything else on the work-floor than…work. Or it’s very one-sided communication. Meaning, they keep Work and Private Life very separate. As if it is this un-written rule to keep things in order and not “confuse” matters. It seems Hierarchy is common place in Germany/Berlin, although slowly but surely changing. And of course you can never ever generalize people.
I have noticed that when talking to at least 400+ people about this subject in various situations, and of various backgrounds, in the last 10 years. In the beginning (2,5 years ago) I had a lot of resistance being here myself. And I occasionally still do. As I saw some social habits being carried into other social get-togethers too. I often felt as if you have to break the Ice every time you have a conversation again and again and again… Most of my German Friends see this naturally too, and it always ends in comparing countries the world at large…etc. and laughing about it…Sometimes the answers come in un-expected forms. Today it felt like a revelation with my friend (the Kebab store owner) There are diamonds everywhere you just have to learn to see them !
Overcoming cultural differences is not easy, but I believe it is very do-able. Once you see the underlying thread and the Source of all Humanity… then the only thing left is to learn is the Language and touch on infinity
“Nothing is as it appears to be, it appears to be….”
Be well,

Temptation
Posted by Henri Nolen in Uncategorized on June 17, 2011
Don’t we all get tempted in some form or way ?
It’s sometimes not easy to stay focussed in everyday life. Another way of looking at temptation is dis-traction. Dis-traction from what ? From what we think is important in our Lives? Dis-traction = allowing yourself to be persuaded by something else either inside or outside yourself. Inside : thoughts and visions and feelings Outside : by the stimulus (or the senses) and the world and how we respond to it. Or being lured outside your Self (most, if not all, is programmed, or created at one point in time)
The other week I was walking through the Berlin City as I needed to do some shopping. Since Berlin is an alive 24/7-City, this was just before 21:00 hrs….
While I was doing some late night shopping, walking in the shopping mall, I was looking at this very creative Big-light-green-colored-couches with a Tree integrated in the middle of the design. Beneath it defuse warm lights at the bottom of the organic shaped design. It looked immediately comfortable to sit on and chill out. They have put these couches in the middle of the Shopping centre which I thought looked marvelous, and so, I made a picture of it, to remind myself of the design that I loved…….Right at that moment, an almost perfectly attractive lady of over 25 approached me. (With the looks of a movie star and all the right make -up, matching clothes, moves, mannerism and sizes a man could ever want) You’ll have to take my word for it o.k ?….
She asked me : “Hi, what are you doing?” and I said : “I am just taking some pictures of that great design couch over there” She didn’t seem -honestly or deeply- interested in me and I “smelled” something fishy. She continued… “ What are you doing now? Do you feel like drinking a coffee with me” (all in German) I thought: WHAT!? Excuse me ? and asked : Excuse me, Why me? She said : “Well a girlfriend of mine did not show up and I thought I saw you walking there, and you seem like a really nice guy…..” Right ?!? (Then I felt it clearly, it’s some kind of set-up. There’s a mastermind behind this) I said: (Testing her) I am first doing some shopping, But I would like to drink a coffee with you (!) She asked : “Right now ?” Yes, (I said) if that’s ok with you ? Then she said : “You mean right now afterwards ?” …and she doubted for a moment and then SHE asked “can I have your Phone number?” (I thought : NO WAY!, I am ever gonna give her that) Right there I knew. I looked around and I saw a Cameraman and The Boom Operator standing on the second floor of the shopping mall and… hiding away, when I looked in their direction. (The Boom-Operator = the person who holds the microphone of the Camera) and I smiled…
…Then the Lady Producer walked up to me with the camera man in front of me and the same boom-operator and she explained what they were doing…etc. all while camera was rolling. It was a producer from RTL2 German television. She told me; “Sorry to have bothered you, but we were using “an extra”. Normally this Woman is really shy, we gave her a short training in -Flirting- to get more confidence, and to test how a lot of MEN would respond to her, after we coached her to flirt to see if she could actually persuade Men, with just the right words, perfect looks, Make-up, behavior…etc. and to drink Coffee with her. The Lady Producer asked me : Would you have given her your Phone number? And were you attracted to her? I said : She looked definitely nice. But No Way! But, yes she was persuasive, and I also knew there was something fishy. Because it was not her True Self that was talking. (it apeared she had an earpiece in with the coach telling her which words to say…) I told her that I am a Life-Coach and that I train people everyday towards more Awareness of Self and Empowering people in their Lives so they make more progress. I said –> it takes time. It doesn’t happen overnight. What that Lady actually did, I told her, is what many Men “normally” do and say and treat some Women Sometimes even in a rude way. And it doesn’t work Guys… …Haha. She agreed and we laughed, I continued… by Manipulating a woman (!) Not if you are serious about Women anyway. Or impatience. Because she doesn’t know you! You are not Friends with her jet. Why should she want to go out with a stranger and give you her telephone number ?! Ok, arguably there are exceptions, but for the core of this subjects… let’s continue…
Are you still with me?
Plug & Play Generation (of camera) the Producer and I talked a bit more, and she explained shortly what they did. And why they did it. Basically entertainment. And she asked me what I thought about it. A really interesting conversation. She told me that the shy lady was trained by a coach that taught her in e very short time some skills to persuade men. To boost her self-confidence…etc. Which inspired me to write a series of Blogs about -longterm- Progression. As Training takes take time. Manipulating Progress with short cuts, or quick fix solutions, seem to go against nature or our natural Learning Process. It never lasts. Still our society and most (definitely not all) is based around short term thinking.
It takes time for a strong relationship to build. You have to be friends first and foremost. (and I don’t mean the kind of “Friendship” of the 34.000 Friends you have on Facebook) I mean deep Friendships, the ones you can trust and build upon. To a lot of people this might sound old fashioned, father-like, or even old-school. But that’s what it takes for a strong relationship. You need to invest. It never stops. It is the same thing with mastering a topic, or build new constructive habits. Repeat and repeat. It takes time. From both parties.
Do I still have your attention ?
With all respect to RTL2, and I truly mean that, It is of course still Entertainment. Apart from having a good time or even fun experience and… It can hardly be called educational or Constructive. Building confidence doesn’t come from learning to flirt when you are by nature a Shy person….. You need to go strait to the core. It will not work to help a person effectively in the long-term in their Life. You need to remove the things that truly block them. Simply because… the training of a temporary Coach stops right after the Producer has finished with the project for TV.
Since you are reading this, You know as well as I do, we are not perfect human beings, we all make mistakes. But having awareness under your belt, in the here and now, is a huge step towards responding to the here and now. So we can Learn to make better decisions. That takes training-time. And knowing yourself, your weaknesses, knowing your strengths. It’s NOT enough to read this and go …”I understand”, (or) “I have heard it before” It’s al about the doing and learning to know yourself more and better. That’s were training comes in the long-term. And that’s why if we want to change things in our lives and make progress, we all need a trainer, a Mentor, a Coach. I have a Mentor, as a matter of fact I have more then one.
Short term thinking is exactly the kind of training I do not prefer. It doesn’t work. As a matter of fact, I train and help people in the exact opposite way. I first help them to relax, then to slow down, then to empty their cup. So they can help themselves. I think long-term. And I believe only in this way will you create real lasting changes in your Life. Not the Quick-fix, Plug & Play, “Get Happy in 10 days” No effort, Cheap thrill, Short term experiences. To just make you feel good. Even though that could be a positive “side effect” When we train together. It’s hard work sometimes. However, the World is already full of Half-Hearted Passions. Half-Hearted commitments. Half-Hearted Intentions. It only amounts to impatient short-term conditioned thinking and thus acting upon it. Yes, sure it sells, but that is simply not bringing you the results you are after in the long-term. It will bring only more disappointment, False Hope, Frustration and eventually maybe even Depression. It will never last. And it will distract you into more of the same form of Temptation you had again and again. It will rob your Time, your Money and your Life Energy. Stay clear of that path! Just so we’re clear on that.
What truly Builds a person to self-Confidence?, No, The Question should always be… “What builds Confidence of SELF ?” And instead of Self-Awareness, …Awareness of Self ! A person can still really be afraid and overly self-aware, that it can actually blocks anything that a person would like to change or accept in their life. So they procrastinate and think that they are the ones that are broken. I have been there. It’s a lie, It doesn’t work.
“While your cup is full, try to get more information in…” exactly ! You need to empty your cup first.
To get back to temptation… to resist temptation, in everyday life, stop going into an argument with temptation, then the temptation stops. Then Put your focus on something else. One of the things you can defeat temptation with is never go into an argument. It never works. You’ll always loose. Get out of the situation. It’s the exact opposite of what we often feel like doing.
Do I still have your attention ?
When you look at the educational side, of the T.V. program. Not much is learned. UNLESS you would find a way to literally speak out the internal processes that go on in both parties Minds. But you are just the viewer… Because part of the “acting part”, (the poker face, and trick questions. etc. etc..) It’s only the tip of the Iceberg that People are going to SEE when you hear people TALK and what they really think and feel. Yes, true, The tongue speaks what’s in the Heart. But, then again not all truth’s been told, when some people speak. When, for example, what is in the heart, is controlling the output with the will. Basically, think it, but do not speak it out, or we feel it, but it’s not said. Or we talk so much that we avoid the core.Yes everything but -that- what matters most…
People have their own Unique Blue Prints. Life is already so complicated. Because people often make it so complicated, thus people get more complex, instead of simpler. More problems arise People’s Characters get more complex, because of Short term thinking and The Plug & Play-Generation-style and Quick fix solutions. So as a result most of our focus shifts. That’s why discovering your Blue Print is so important. Keeping it simple for people is my task.
When you watch the movie “Hitch”, with Will Smith, (Which I really Like as an actor) There are many little hints of truths in how to treat a lady. And how both sexes think in real life. Practically speaking. One of the things that were reflected : Listening to a lady. And that Listening is a skill Men often seem to forget about, since they are visually oriented most of the time. (and we are not to blame) As a coach I regard this to be high on the list: Deep listening. It always makes me laugh when I see some truths being reflected in a movie in revealing way. It just makes me smile. Because Listening is so important. And so Underestimated. And you don’t need to be a musician for it to learn this skill. It also shows a funny twist or teaser on “Principles” at the end of it. It’s probably where, being in the moment, the Universe, training and building Character work together…haha.
Personally, I love the process of helping people through Awareness of Self. So they can be inspired again. I am also Intrigued in women, (not just because I am a guy) if not only for the fact that I was “partly” raised by women. With all their differences, (if you would compare it to the way men are wired) with all their passions, courage, deep believes, intelligence, strong intuition, I personally believe -in some ways- Men are inferior to women. Which is just plain observation and experience. This seems also a social conditioned cause. In my view Women are such interesting creatures, with all their hormonal behavior, switching moods fast, sometimes faster then light. Compassion…
Presently it’s a men dominated world, but in many ways you see this slowly but surely changing and that’s one reasons why I have great respect for them. In many ways they get treated as if they were less, which I personally find ridiculous in any time and age. I believe that Women should empower themselves with their own unique qualities & gifts. Not “like” Men, but naturally like themselves, Women.
I belief there are a lot of changes that still need to occur, our thinking needs to change into progression in these matters. Men and Women.
…Might be something for another Post who knows…
Because there is always the temptation to lure us back into familiarity and comfort territory of old ways… Think in the long term ! How do you resist temptation ? Mark it down… and learn from it, ask friends how they deal with temptations… seriously.
If nothing else, I hope hope I got you thinking
Thank you for reading this !!!

How Quickly we forget. NOT!

This Blog could easily be called : “Learning by Doing” (or) “Learning / Applying”
We’ve all had a cold or a fever of some sort of flu in the past or maybe even got sick. It’s not a preferred place to be in. I am talking about an overload of the system or to much of one thing and to little of something else. We’ve all been there at one point or another in our lives.
In the process towards getting better, there were certain thoughts and feelings and maybe visions that you may have had that made you “somehow” better. Maybe you were not aware of it and you’ve just rested/slept. But, when you are aware enough, there is actually a whole process of getting better going on in body mind and spirit. Letting go of certain thoughts, worries, regrets, compulsive thoughts… at the same time. Letting the body rest, sleeping loads, taking different foods then you normally would, that feel natural, vitamins and minerals…etc. which might all contribute and did you notice that you can’t eat certain foods, or have certain thoughts. You feel that “certain” thoughts cost you loads of energy.
For example : A habit might be to judge others. Did you know that it actually costs you loads of energy Mentally, Spiritually and Physically ? So not only does it seem to be in-line with the fact that many teachings teach us that you should not judge others. (because it is said that we judge actually ourselves) But it also seems to go against our true nature… Energy wise. That should be a signal. But why are we doing this then when we are top-fit ? Good Question (!)
Now most of the time, after you got better, Going strait back into “everyday Life”, we seem to go back to old patterns that are so familiar. (which most of the time made you sick in the first place… maybe it was foods, not enough sunshine, or thoughts or not enough sleep…etc. because it’s safe. Psychology calls this, the well documented, “Comfort-zone” It all depends on you personally.
Today after I attended a seminar in Den-Haag, Holland. I was listening in on a conversation of two elderly ladies. One of the ladies was wearing big hip sunglasses, she was looking at the timetables of the tube, where I was waiting too, and she said : “Jesus, O, no I have to wait still so long” I asked jokingly : “What does Jesus have to do with that, haha ?” She said : “O, sorry, you are correct. It just slipped out. Then sat down again, next to the other elderly lady and said… “Mmm, I guess that’s what we do, we don’t think about these things, everybody says them. The other lady said : “O, well, if we have to keep track of all these things, it’s to much”
As You can see, our initial thoughts are natural, but then we often let ourselves get distracted by the world’s view of how we are “suppose” to behave. Most of the time socially conditioned so others still approve of us or so that we “fit” in.
Another thing I often notice, is when you just observe some (definitely not all) elderly people, when they come together they often complain about all their pains. “I have pains here and there, O, you too, well I got this as well…”
Before you know it, they focus on PAIN. next thing they talk about is : “Did you hear that that man or woman died from that the other day”…etc…etc And they tent to spiral in on sicknesses. Instead on focussing on Life. On how to stay healthy, happy, feel good, have healthy relationships and use empowering words and language.
Krisnamurti once said : There is this Deep Rooted Mental Laziness (DRML) that is engrained in us.
In order to overcome this we must become aware of what we are actually doing on a daily basis.
Even though self expression, even crying and telling sometimes your friends that you are going though a specific difficult situation is pretty normal. Or just for comfort. God forbid I will ever talk like that. I want to become old in a healthy way. Since I have studied the power of words and intention for many years and the influence it has on one-self and the Body, Mind & Spirit, Within my network of Friends and especially my treasured deep-relationships, there are only a selective few Friends, within my circle of Friends, who I personally gave authority to kick my ass whenever (if ever) I drift of into negativity. Or when I feel proud they’ll humble me. We are all Human. We can never entirely see all our blind-spots. We all need each other. (this works only in a mutual way) With all our weaknesses and strengths. Knowing your Weaknesses is something you can use to bridge the gap. The Universe uses this for the better, when you are willing to learn and have a willingness to change.
By doing to much of one thing and to little of the other, our life seems out of balance.
Maybe we actually know how to take really good care of the our selves, but we often fail to take the action.
Most of us know this. We tend to forget the valuable lessons we’ve learned in that process so easily. How Quickly we forget. And we go on with everyday life (or the way we are used to) And forget about our lessons and new possible ways so easily.
I remember Dale Carnegie talking about this in his book “How to make friends…etc.
We have to do things on a regular basis otherwise it won’t stick. It seems we naturally have to repeat ourselves, just so we can remember.
When you are like most people, somehow we seem socially conditioned to “just move on” after an experience or sickness, without noticing and being sensitive about our own self-development. Nothing is learned. It’s no rocket Science to learn more about our selves. It’s necessary for our growth. Not just Change, because change happens everyday, no… our progression.
I think one of the reasons we tend to behave that way is caused by just getting a good feeling temporarily. Thinking about the next thing we are about to do, have, want, or be with, without a thought on what we have just learned and integrate (basically use!) it in our Life. Write about it…etc. and Dive into the subject a bit deeper so we learn about our Health, our Bodies, our Balance. It’s good to think ahead. But let’s do it in the here and now.
Yes, it takes time first, yes, it costs energy first. Yes, it takes time to find out and understanding and learning about yourself. Yes, sometimes it costs us money. There is a price you have to pay for developing yourself. But see it as an investment. Isn’t it worth it to know? Maybe you start asking the right Questions and maybe you’ll even start asking a professional in the field or a doctor/specialist that can give you the answers you are looking for.
What I teach in my awareness One-on-One training is : Deconstructing your behavior. And Becoming more aware of your everyday decision based on belief systems. Or Blue Print if you will. (through awareness training) I am the why guy or Reflection Guy if you will. Sometimes it may take a while before somebody gets her/his own insights or realizations. It’s a process. It is always a personal journey. And sometimes it needs just a little tool. People come to me with Questions on how to be and stay more aware in their lives. To have a better overview. So they can take action and integrate it in simple ways. As you yourself can’t see your own Blind-spots. That’s where I come in.
In order to Remember the things we have learned form experience, I recommend, you need to write it down in a plain daily Note-Book. With pictures and drawings and colors anything to express your journey. Make it a fun process. So you can review that from time to time (at least 1x every month ) So you’ll learn. And you’ll be amazed at the answers you’ll find in there when review it (!) That came through you. Since most of the time out habits tent to “cycling” back to us after a while, problems tent to repeat themselves when you are not aware is a common phenomena. It’s good to review the insights we already have, so we don’t run into the same trouble. again and again. “It’s not a fix it all“ solution, but this a simple and powerful tool for learning by doing, but also lets us download our thoughts onto paper so we use up less “hard-disc space”
))
Also writing down what is bothering you may also Mentally & Spiritually even Physically clear things up for you. Personally I use the Mind-Map technique to chalk things down really fast and effectively.
I know there is a lot of stuff we’ve covered here so, and many I haven’t even talked about. I want to emphasis to you to read this whole page at least 10 times and apply what you have learned. repetition is KEY. How quickly we, forget. Not!
Hopefully you’ll remember. Haha.
Learning by Doing.
Take care and be well,
Henri
M8.9 Earthquake, Tsunami Japan… and training
Posted by Henri Nolen in Uncategorized on March 12, 2011
It’s amazing how many subjects there are connected to a Natural disaster as did happen today on the coastline of Japan. Apart from the personal tragedies we are faced once again with fragility of the human race in those areas. Peoples, Countries are doing what they can to help those in need. By sending rescue workers. Being prepared, knowing what could happen, how to respond, knowing what to do, knowing what not to do…in these situations, is crucial. It is so easily said watching from a distance, but when you are in a situation like that, being trained is a matter of life or death.
After such a Tsunami, People are advised to turn off the Gas, turn off the Electricity and to place themselves under a table, dining table of some sort and making sure you cary enough water with you. Japan is well organized and rescue workers will be up and running fast and also the army is already dropping off or delivering food supplies for those in need.
In extreme natural disasters like those in Japan today. Communication with mobile Phones are dead, because everybody and his sister wants to reach their loved ones, and so the net gets an overload, so service providers are shutting down the net temporarily. Then there is Public transport that are temporarily not working. Nuclear Energy Plants (11 are shut down in Japan as we speak) Which is an issue in a situation like the one Mother Nature shows us right now. When something like this happens, you start to question, Why did we invent those things again ?
It’s apparent that in any situation when there is a “situation” out of control, or chaos, there are only certain elements of which you have control over. Training is crucial in those situations. When you compare the Tsunami in Indonesia, many more people lost their lives, compared to Japan today. In Indonesia, people were not prepared or had little or no training for an event like this to happen.
Training is essential in everyday life and in extreme natural disasters like that of today. Even when you are trained you have to overcome the so called “moment” when you go through this -unbelief- or “shock” situation and then you need to rely on your training to take over and help you to stay focussed. It’s important to stay relaxed in these situations. Vital functions in the body work less efficient or shut down when we let stress take over. So relaxation is so very important.
I know it is nothing in comparison to the Tsunami today in Japan but I remember when the Firework-Stock in Enschede (Holland) in 2001 exploded in broad daylight, I was serving customers at my part-time work in the Local University Bookstore. I was 600 meters in distance away from the explosion. Whole blocks of houses were completely blown away like paper, it looked like a warzone. It felt as an earthquake… literarily. It amazed me how people all responded differently to the situation. Outside, many people were running TOWARDS the scene of the disaster/explosion to SEE what was going on almost like ”Ants” behavior (but funny enough Ants would not respond like that) “Disaster Tourists” I thought, in the heat of the moment, are they crazy ? Because of the constipation of al the people that were running towards the explosion of the scene, the Ambulances and rescue workers could not pass as fast as they wanted to help the wounded or transport the dead. There were 2 explosions. I was looking around me and stayed relaxed. I evacuated customers because parts of the ceiling were coming down on the floor, and with the second explosion all the windows collapsed and I had to get people away from the windows.
I saw some of my female colleagues who were suddenly crying, and some of them falling on the floor, customers were shocked and there were even customers that continued reading, yes…. they continued reading (!) even though parts of the store were collapsing, the earth shook, and the sound was enormous. I learned on that day that everybody responds in their own way. I wondered why. Of our team, only 1 male and 2 female colleagues kept their cool. It was strange, but when I heard the bang, I intuitively and immediately felt that there were people that had lost their lives. It felt as if an airplain dropped right our of the sky (2 x) or bombs exploded. Afterwards you realize what just happened and then the healing process starts. You let it go. Shake it off. Every moment is different. Looking back, I am really thankful for my safely and for being the observer of the situation, staying relaxed, trusting my training, by my parents, teachers and how I trained myself, to do only those things of which you have control over and let go of the things you do not have control over. Safely first….are some basic things you need to follow in extreme situations.
Tsunami is an inspiration for this Blog today. It’s devastating to see but also inspiring. Many people have been able to save their own lives and even save those of others by being trained. Occasionally some people do intuitively the right things in the right order at the right time. And these bring real results. Japan is pretty used to it’s unpredictable environment. It seems that through a series of events or a crisis situation people are more willing to pro-actively work together. However, when you go through your everyday life it is a bit of a different situation. I think this has to do with our perception of time. When it comes down to taking care of ourselves and doing something to further develop (through Self-Devellopment) or doing something for others we seldom think in the medium or long term. You might think it’s costing money, or you want to directly see the results… just a plug & play solution (impatience) but, It’s well documented that the decisions you make today will influence the next step or situations you’ll experience I think it’s our perception of time and seeing the benefits, and being clear of what you want (more about this in another blog or in my courses) When you want to excel in a certain area, be more relaxed, be more efficient, be more successful…you need training. It’s in our decision making process. Some things come natural to us, or are gifts, in other cases when skills are required training might be a solution. There are many people who do invest time in training when it comes down to daily awareness. It’s through our thinking that changes get created and by repetition. Then our perception shifts. So it becomes natural, It becomes a new habit.
Our Thought and Prayers are with the people of Japan.
Carpe Diem,
Henri
Integrating NEW habits, Why is it so difficult?

Why Do we have difficulty in integrating new habits in our Lives ?
“It’s hard to keep a ship on course without a steering wheel to control it’s course”
This is such a fascinating subject. I think this is not one-edged answer. There are many factors that make up the whole. First of all when you start a new study, follow courses, have training or read a new book it needs to be in alignment with what you really want … it’s all about the WHY you do it. Referring to the above metaphor, the Steering wheel is ofcourse YOU and the WHY. As you need to ask yourself WHY am I gong in this direction, before you are heading that way, or take action. I know, it’s so easily said, and it’s so downright simple to tell somebody, “O, just buy this and that course and then you’ll be ok” …You and I know it doesn’t work like that. I suggest it’s power may be found more in getting to know yourself a bit better. Instead of looking in the outside world for all the answers constantly. You know we are so conditioned by the outside world, that it seems to shout loader then our voice inside. They are there, but we have just gotten used to letting it dominate us. I think it’s power lay in letting our inside voice be a little more dominant then the outside world.
Because of this shift, or the Belief, that the outside world is more important then Listening to our inside world, we have become lazy. When it comes to Letting new habits be part of our lives, We are lazy by Nature, why? Because we, most often, we find it hard enough just to get through the day.
But are we Lazy by nature ? I think rightly so. Think about all the so called “danger” that our lives depend on. Bills you have to pay, Job you need to have so you can pay the rent, Food that needs to be paid, Car (when you have one) that needs to be paid, the memberships Internet, Phone, Gas, Electricity…etc. Or as a child go to school… I am sure you get my point here. Then there are relationships that you need to update, Friendships, Family…etc. Most of the time we need to relax after all these daily things. Did we then stopped caring about our selves, because we kind of gave up on what we truly want in our Lives ? Did we give up on our Dreams ? could that be the reason why we made ourselves believe we are lazy, but because of our so called daily “responsibilities” we have been distracted. When you let it sink in…Most people would respond in the 3 following ways :
1. What a Crazy World it is indeed ! …and continue with their lives
2. Who cares ?! …and continue with there lives
3. Man! I must have been sleeping…. Is that true ?
I’m not trying to categorize people here. Because there are many ways people can respond. But I suggest that the definition of our true nature (in this case) might not be Lazy, but conditioned behavior to overwhelming “Daily” experiences.
Naturally It may very from person to person, but I suggest it’s all fear and conditioned distraction based. So when you want to do something for yourself, there are so many “triggers” in the World that you already are conditioned by, that even when you are focussed, you are being programmed to be distracted any moment.
Can you imagine what it would do to a child when he or she was told by a mother or father, or teacher on school “Man! you don’t have any concentration or self-discipline” Can you imagine how that would make them feel? Highly sensitive people are distracted very easily by the outside world. I know because I used to be one of them.
When I was Studying Music on M.I. London. I knew a teacher who I felt was so dedicated in what he was doing, as I saw he was integrating many disciplines into his Life all at the same time. At that time I just didn’t know how or why…. but my life had changed forever. How does a person become successful. What do Peak-Performers do that others don’t ?…etc.
So I suggest it’s fear based conditioning that stops us from integrating NEW Habits or Daily Rituals. We are afraid we might get to tired at the end of the day, of getting sick, afraid of what others think or might say of us or to us while integrating new habits in our lives. Afraid about what it might bring us in the long term, the fear of failing… Afraid of what our inner voices might say about that…again and again and again. Our so called internal self dialogue. Huh!, and you think that you don’t talk to yourself ? Well… It’s well documented that we think about 60.000 thoughts every single day. Most of these thought repeat themselves every single day. In that way I suggest we are constantly programming our daily experiences but also our fears deeper and deeper to be part of our programming and so much so, that it seems as if we are Lazy by nature. Or it feels as if we are fearful by nature. While we are actually trusting Human beings. That have so much power. And when you focus your your energy on fear guess, what you are getting back ? It is as if you are literally praying for more fear in your life. So start praying for the answer.
When we want to integrate some new habit into our daily life, we need to ask the question : Why do I want this into my life. Why do I want to change ? What benefits will I receive when I apply it in my daily Live ? Then when you are convinced that it will benefit you and you feel a strong pull or feel motivated to integrate it into your life… Dedicate some time off to make a week schedule and put it in your agenda WHEN you are integrating that new habit into your life and then just do it for 21 days every single day. Even better is to do it for 90 days every single day. So it will be more manifest.

Your Personal Blue Print
Posted by Henri Nolen in Uncategorized on February 19, 2011
A subject that I include in my own Life and in my teachings for many years (and I apply practically) are Blue Prints. For example: Wether we believe that there is a God or wether we do not believe that their is a God, …it is both a belief. Why do we do the things that we think and act upon them ? Why do we postpone action? Why don’t we do the things we Love or care about ? And if we do, what is stopping us from reaching our fullest potential.
As with most of my Coaching and Training, I Love to make the Complex things simple. Everyday answers to everyday problems made simple and practical. So people can understand, and benefit from it. I am a practical orientated Guy. Having the Tools that bring real results in people’s lives every single day are some of the things that Inspires me the most. Tools and Systems that work in the Long term. …not just make you feel good and then you go back to your “old self” or “old Life” But Tools that will make you feel great when you apply them and see the results. That brings real changes. As always you got to do the work.
What is A Blue Print ? A Blue Print is that so called “programmed” part in us that works on autopilot, without you having any control over it. Or so it seems… We wonder WHY we keep on “fighting” these so-called habits, that we try to get rid of. Smoking, Over-eating, Talking in a compulsive way, Responding in a certain way, intention…etc. We seem to be a bundle of uncontrolled reflex-based beings. Are we then social Robots ?
Most of the way we behave comes from so called “programming” it seems to work very similar to the way a computer works. This is well documented. Daily experiences are stored in us and turn into programs. Feelings, Visions, Sounds. And most often triggered by the outside once it is stored up. For example: Experiences from outside : The environment or country we grew up in, our Parents, our Family members, our Friends, Teachers, some meant really well, and some were totally unaware of what they said or did. However, you somehow accepted or allowed the information to be part of you. You let your Life be dominated by it. But guess what ? It’s not part of you….if you let it… Because accepting that your past defines you, is also part of the belief (or Blue Print) that might work against you when you want to be more successful in Life. Because it happens outside of our awareness. So you could say that a Blue Print is a “belief-system”. No matter if this belief-system is working for us or against us. It is still a belief system. When there is a belief that works for us it’s great, But we all know to well, that sometimes you’ll find yourself in a situation were we feel we are responded differently or not so nice…etc. How do we know that it is not our natural self? However…When things don’t go the way you want in Life, and you can’t seem have to the success you so much want in your live, this is a good place to start, Right here ! To become more aware of what you do and how you do it. Every single day.
Some people call “a Blue Print” a Map of Reality, or Pictures you hold, others call it Neural Pathways…Yes… It’s the territory most people want to avoid, even when they are aware of that it exists, or they have read something about it or heard about it. As it includes facing your emotional “pains” and habits. Avoiding the “pain” is something we have learned to become really good at. We have become graduates, or even masters at avoiding the “Pain”. And yes, it costs energy to become more aware of what you do and how you do it in the beginning. By observing how you do it every single day, we slowly start to see the puzzle pieces that form our own personal Blue Print. And also how we created it and why. But did you know that most people are actually putting so much Power into -avoiding the pain- it costs so much energy daily. The costs are much greater then your effort of changing the course of your life, by using tools in the right order and by being aware of how you do it. Imagine what great benefits you will receive in return ?!? The only way is through. But I am running ahead here…
Well…I hope to explain to you, in a practical every day tot day way, that in getting a better understanding on how your own Personal Blue Print works, and is build up, it is really worth investing your focussed time in. It is very do-able to bring changes into your Life in ways you never thought possible. And see things, that were hidden from your own view. With the guidance of your Personal Self-Devellopment & Peak Performance Coach you can make this happen. It will save you years of trial and error by figuring it all out by yourself.
